Position Profile
Materials Technician - Receiving
Reports to: Lead Hand

Job Summary:
This position supports the Inventory Control Specialist by receiving shipments and segregating tubes, plates, pipes, fittings and materials for in house fabrication.

Key Responsibilities:
• Support maintaining inventory records and doing the yearend counts
• Use material identification tools to pull items for in house fabrication and accurately record left over materials for re-inventory
• Count the amount of each item received and compare it to the invoice or documents included with the shipment to resolve variances
• Unload materials from trucks, unpack and organize inventory
• Move items and place them in appropriate areas or binsusing the following equipment: dollies, hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts and conveyers
• Assist in delivery and preparation of orders for shippingas required
• Complete daily logs and perform preventative maintenance on warehouse equipment
• Additional authority and accountability as related to key responsibilities will be delegated to create a basis for contingency rewards and performance measures upon demonstrated competency

Other Responsibilities:
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive documents, adhere to operational and record keeping guidelines
• Lead by example and help to follow and enforce the company’s Health and Safety Policies and Procedures
• Attend the required training and focus on continued professional growth and development
• Other duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to learn and properly identify the products we purchase, fabricate and sell; read Mill Test Reports (MTR)
• Enjoy taking a methodical approach to your work whenkeeping accurate records and operating equipment
• Appreciate the importance of policies and procedures for a safe and efficient work environment
• Willing to put in overtime hours when necessary to achieve perfection in inventory accuracy on emergency orders
• Positive attitude and flexibility to meet the changing work demands
• Successful at getting along well with fellow coworkers and communicating effectively to learn from mistakes
• Organized and extremely detail oriented, able to carry out tasks independently
• Superior math and computer skills
• Good manual dexterity, physical strength and stamina (able to lift and carry objects of 20kg)

Experience and Qualifications:
• Grade 12
• 3-5 year’s previous warehouse experiencepreferably in the metal manufacturing environment
• Forklift Certificate
• Proficient with computers, experience with MS Office applications
• Valid Alberta Drivers’ License is a must
